Our Mission
Our Beginnings
Our Founder and CEO, Matthew Stewart, was inspired to promote energy savings through his experience with the Income Eligible Energy Efficiency Program, which connected low-income tenants and homeowners to energy savings programs. In pursuit of his vision Matt earned a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering from University of Maryland. American Home Energy Corporation (AHEC) was launched in 2010 and American Energy Corporation (AEC) in 2011. AHEC and AEC have both flourished as energy efficiency consulting and contracting firms thanks to word-of-mouth advertising and customer loyalty. We are grateful for these opportunities to help our neighbors and customers save energy, save money, and save the environment.
American Home Energy Corporation (AHEC)
AHEC serves residential homeowners as well as tenants, residential property managers, and real estate companies. We are a participating trade ally in the Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) energy-savings programs. Our trade ally status allows us to perform residential energy audits in accordance with the EmPOWER Maryland energy-efficiency programs. Additionally, we are an approved participating contractor of the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility’s (DESEU) Energize Delaware initiative. Through these programs, AEC has performed more than 3,300 audits in multi-family units and single-family homes.
Our residential energy auditors are thoroughly trained in residential energy auditing. Each auditor possesses a Building Analyst and Building Envelope Certification through the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Learn more about our auditors on our Team page.
American Energy Corporation (AEC)
AEC focuses on commercial and nonprofit organizations including government, retail outlets, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, municipalities, churches, and fire departments. We are a participating trade ally in the PHI and BGE commercial and small business energy-savings programs. As such, we are approved to work with commercial and small business customers in accordance with the EmPOWER Maryland energy-efficiency programs. Additionally, we are an approved participating contractor of the DNREC Energy Efficiency Investment Fund.
Our commercial and small business energy auditors have Energy Auditor Certifications through the Association of Energy Engineers. Learn more about our auditors on our Team page.
